Princess Diana & Prince Charles’ Pink Sofa Is Misunderstood

When Prince Charles and Princess Diana settled into Apartments 8 and 9 at Kensington Palace in the early 1980s, the task of turning the historic 17th-century estate into a lived-in family sanctuary fell to interior designer Dudley Poplak.

The sitting room, which quickly became Diana’s preferred workspace and personal retreat, was designed to balance royal history with family life. It was here that the couple posed for portraits in 1983 with a young Prince William.
