Main Capital Partners has announced its intent to acquire Watermark Insights, a platform provider of institutional effectiveness software for the higher education market, for undisclosed terms. Watermark’s fully integrated Educational Impact Suite platform supports customers on accreditation, faculty development and student-success functions.
Founded in 2000 and headquartered in Austin, Texas, Watermark counts roughly 1,500 customers among established public and private institutions, with a focus on large North American universities. The company employs more than 300 people.
With Main’s backing, Watermark intends to expand further across North America through both organic growth and acquisitions, while also using Main’s presence and relationships in Europe to accelerate its international expansion.
“The Watermark team has built an impressive reputation in the U.S. higher education market, an attractive segment characterized by strong regulatory requirements that drive demand for mission-critical software solutions,” said Daan Visscher, partner and co-head of North America at Main Capital Partners. “We have been consistently impressed by the depth of experience and organizational strength across the Watermark team and see a strong foundation for the company’s next phase of growth.”
Main Capital Partners is a software investor with approximately €12 billion in assets under management, active across the Benelux, DACH, France, the Nordics, the UK and the US. The firm’s portfolio includes more than 55 software companies.
