What are the main events for today?

EUROPEAN SESSION

In the European session, we don’t have much on the agenda other than a couple of low tier releases like Spanish and Italian industrial production, and the Eurozone retail sales. The data is not going to change anything for the ECB, so the market reaction will likely be muted.

AMERICAN SESSION

In the American session, the only highlight is the US Jobless Claims data. Initial Claims are expected at 205K vs 197K prior, while Continuing Claims are seen at 1789K vs 1782K prior. The US labour market data has been pretty solid with no notable signs of weakness. The Fed is focused on inflation, so the jobs data is unlikely to influence interest rate expectations much unless we get big deviations.
