‘The Odyssey’ Is So Huge, It’s Produced A No. 1 Album

Ludwig Göransson, the Emmy-, Grammy- and Oscar-winning composer and producer, is the man behind The Odyssey’s score. The music marks his latest of several collaborations with director Christopher Nolan. Nearly everything attached to the blockbuster film is turning into a major commercial success, and that includes its soundtrack.

The almost entirely instrumental project – it does feature “When I’m Home” by James Blake and Travis Scott – becomes a hit in the United Kingdom this week. The project debuts in lofty positions — especially for a film score — across multiple rankings. The collection also gives Göransson his first No. 1 on one list where he’s come close to leading the charge in the past.

Ludwig Göransson Scores His First No. 1

The Odyssey debuts at No. 1 on the Official Soundtrack Albums chart. The collection immediately gives Göransson his first champion on the specific ranking. The composer has now placed 10 projects on the Official Soundtrack Albums chart. Four of those releases have broken into the top 10, and The Odyssey becomes the first to climb all the way to the summit.

Ludwig Göransson Almost Reached No. 1 Earlier This Year

The soundtrack’s immediate arrival at No. 1 extends a particularly successful year for Göransson in the U.K. He has already added two new wins on the ranking so far in 2026, and both have become major hits.

Only a few months before The Odyssey arrived, Göransson nearly earned his first leader on the Official Soundtrack Albums chart with Star Wars – The Mandalorian and Grogu. That project peaked at No. 2 in late May. The position marked Göransson’s career high on the roster, though it held that distinction for only a few weeks before The Odyssey launched one space higher.

In addition to those two 2026 releases, Göransson has reached the top 10 with the soundtracks attached to Tenet and Oppenheimer. Those collections – both from Nolan-helmed movies – peaked at Nos. 4 and 5, respectively.

Ludwig Göransson Earns His First Downloads Chart Top 10

The Odyssey is successful enough to bring Göransson into the top 10 on the Official Album Downloads chart for the first time as well. The soundtrack launches at No. 6 on the ranking.

Before this week, Göransson had come very close to entering the uppermost region but had never managed to do so. Oppenheimer previously ranked as his loftiest success after it topped out at No. 11, missing the top 10 by only one space.

Ludwig Göransson’s Latest Debuts on Three Additional Charts

The Odyssey reaches three additional rankings across the Atlantic this week, and each debut gives Göransson his second career placement. The soundtrack performs best among those tallies on the Official Vinyl Albums chart, where it starts at No. 27. It follows at No. 38 on the Official Albums Sales ranking and No. 48 on the Official Physical Albums chart.

Ludwig Göransson Reaches a New Vinyl Chart Peak

The No. 27 arrival of The Odyssey marks a new career high for Göransson on the Official Vinyl Albums chart. Tenet previously stood as his highest-ranking title on the wax-specific ranking. That soundtrack debuted and peaked at No. 38 in March 2021, a little more than half a decade ago.

Star Wars – The Mandalorian and Grogu still ranks higher than The Odyssey on both the Official Albums Sales and Official Physical Albums charts.
