‘People want their homes to feel just as lived-in and personal,’ Bo adds, pointing to layered rugs, cushions, tactile woods, woven textiles, patterned surfaces and shelves filled with personal belongings as ways to bring depth and personality to a room.
Stevie’s neutral living room is a particularly good example of this approach because there’s no sense that warmth has been added as an afterthought. It comes through in the materials themselves. The wood is rich, the seating is generous, the rugs add softness underfoot, and the mix of textures allows her to decorate with neutrals without them feeling flat. Her personal pieces add another layer to the room, making it feel collected rather than styled.
