Following the rising popularity of air fryers, Smeg has finally stepped into this appliance category. Although the brand already offers a retro-style 10-in-1 Countertop Combi Steam Oven with an air-fry mode, the rollout of the AFC01 Dual Flavour Air Fryer brings a compact, standalone version, as most people prefer these days. Like most of its products, it also features a classic look with compelling matte finishes. We are not entirely sure, but you can expect the kitchen appliance to give tough time to big names like Ninja and Philips.
Designed to look elegant on kitchen countertops, it is part of Smeg’s Collezione design family. The air fryer offers two modes: Crispy and Juicy+Crispy, chosen according to particular needs. Go for Crispy Mode if you want beautifully golden, crisp food such as chips, breaded food, and vegetables. This is the basic mode that works by default in all the preset options, with adjustable time and temperature.
You can choose the Juicy version if you want your food to be crisp on the outside and juicy on the inside. The other mode is especially suited to foods such as meat and vegetables where you want a crisp exterior with a tender inside.
This mode applies only select preset options with automatically managed settings to provide guided results. This mode is distinguished by releasing cold water from the onboard container in the cooking compartment as micro-droplets to prevent the food from drying.
Alongside the built-in modes, the air fryer allows for manual cooking, where you have full control over all settings. There are seven preset programs, with dedicated settings for chicken wings, meat, fish, shrimps, chips, vegetables, and roast chicken.
The temperature ranges from 40 degrees Celsius to 200 degrees Celsius. Other highlighting features include a 24-hour delay timer that programs the appliance to start cooking hours later so your meal is ready exactly when you want it.

Its generous 7.3-liter capacity makes it suitable for family meals. The air fryer features a distinctive design, with a flip-open structure and removable baskets featuring non-stick ceramic coating. It also includes a large viewing window, letting you keep an eye on your food without interrupting the cooking process. The touch control display on top is a cool feature that makes operation easy.
Smeg AFC01 Dual Flavour Air Fryer is available in three elegant matte finishes, and the price for a single-basket unit starts at £199.95 (about $270) on the Smeg UK official website.
