HarbourVest Appoints Global Private Wealth COO, Product Management Head

HarbourVest Partners appointed Brian Taranto as managing director and chief operating officer of its global private wealth business, a newly created role aimed at scaling the firm’s wealth platform.
Taranto joins from Morgan Stanley Investment Management, where he led operations for its U.S. intermediary distribution business following the integration of Eaton Vance. He will oversee client operations, technology, finance, strategic initiatives and risk management as HarbourVest continues expanding its private wealth business.
In addition, Kaitlin May will join the team as head of product management. Her role, also newly created, will focus on managing and scaling close-end products. According to the company, her position will be vital toward meeting growing demand for private market solutions.

Modera Wealth Management named Gaurav Mallik as chief investment officer and Shelly Kapoor as chief operating officer as the firm expands its investment, operations and technology platforms.
Mallik joins from Fiducia Advisors after previous leadership roles at Pallas Capital and State Street Global Advisors, while Kapoor joins from Coldstream following prior executive positions at Arnerich Massena and Ziff Brothers Investments.
Nationwide Names Justin Lee to Lead Institutional Life Insurance Product Strategy

Nationwide Mutual Insurance Co. appointed Justin Lee to lead product strategy and delivery for its institutional life insurance business.
Lee will oversee the development and management of the firm’s corporate- and bank-owned life insurance offerings, drawing on nearly 25 years of financial services experience and more than two decades with Nationwide.
Most recently, Lee served as senior associate vice president on the company’s finance team, supporting product innovation and pricing initiatives.
