Nearly 25,000 pounds of frozen, not-ready-to-eat Buffalo chicken products have been recalled in five states because they were “produced without the benefit of inspection,” the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced Aug. 26.
Shanghai Ravioli Corporation, based in Boston, initiated the recall for products produced on various dates between July 8, 2025, and June 29, 2026. The agency said the problem was discovered during FSIS surveillance activities. No illnesses or injuries linked to consumption of these products have been reported.
The recall is classified as Class I, which the USDA defines as a health hazard situation in which there is a reasonable probability that using the product could cause serious adverse health consequences or death.
Which Buffalo Chicken Products Are Recalled?
The following products are subject to the recall, according to FSIS:
- Cardboard boxes containing 100 pieces of “BUFFALO CHICKEN RANGOON,” with “Sell By” dates from July 8, 2026, to June 29, 2027, on the label.
- Cardboard boxes containing 120 pieces of “BENEDETTO’S BUFFALO CHICKEN MOZZARELLA STICK,” with “Sell By” dates from July 8, 2026, to June 29, 2027, on the label.
The products bear false marks of inspection with establishment number “EST.18004,” which does not have a federal grant of inspection.
Were the Recalled Products Sold in Stores?
No. The recalled frozen chicken products were not sold in retail grocery stores but were shipped to food-service locations.
What States Are Affected?
The recalled items were shipped to food-service locations in Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont.
What Should Food-Service Locations Do?
According to FSIS, food produced without inspection may contain undeclared allergens, harmful bacteria or other contaminants that put consumer health and safety at risk. Food-service locations that purchased these products are urged not to serve them.
FSIS says the products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
