- Cimos operates production sites in Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina
- Mutares acquired Cimos in 2022 and folded it into FerrAl United Group, its automotive castings and forgings platform
- Mutares’ CIO says the sale reflects a targeted reduction of its Automotive & Mobility portfolio exposure
Munich-based private equity firm Mutares has sold Cimos, a manufacturer of aluminum and iron castings, machined components and assemblies for the automotive industry, to members of Cimos’ management team, supported by investor Vero Automotive 111.
Cimos supplies turbocharger, powertrain and electrification components, along with lightweight solutions for steering, chassis, braking systems and body-in-white applications. The company operates production sites in Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, employs approximately 1,350 people and generates revenues of approximately €120 million.
Mutares acquired Cimos in 2022 and has since integrated it into FerrAl United Group, its automotive platform for forgings, castings and machined components and assemblies, giving Cimos access to shared finance, sales and engineering resources as well as joint purchasing and a broader global network.
“The sale of Cimos marks another step in actively managing our Automotive & Mobility portfolio,” said Johannes Laumann, CIO of Mutares, in a statement. “It also reflects the targeted reduction of our engagement in this segment.”
