My top 10 things to watch Friday, Sept. 18 1. Stock futures are flat this morning after yesterday’s bounce-back rally. The Trump administration is reportedly holding off on new tariffs until after President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping ‘s summit next week. While helpful for stocks, bonds are misbehaving this morning. The 10-year Treasury yield is inching closer to 5%, again. U.S. oil prices are flat this morning but pacing for its third straight weekly gain. 2. Apple’s iPhone 18 launch event is today. I swung by the flagship Apple Store in New York City to take it all in. Evercore raised its price target on the longtime Club stock to $380 from $365, saying it believes this could be a better-than-expected iPhone refresh cycle. I’ve got high hopes too. Have to wait until next month for the foldable iPhone Duo. I want one. 3. Quite the story here: Independent security researchers used Anthropic’s Claude to hack into OpenAI, via an employee’s ChatGPT account, according to The Wall Street Journal . I question whether its independent cybersecurity defenses are tough enough. If they had services from a company like Okta , this should not have happened. 4. Barclays lowered its price target on sell-rated Lennar to $70 from $79 after earnings. This is a premier, Florida-based homebuilder. Shares touched a 52-week low yesterday, before closing up 1.7%. Zoom out on the chart, and you’ll see the hazards of rising interest rates and 7% mortgages versus those low Covid-era borrowing costs. Barclays’ new target implies over 11% additional downside for the stock. 5. Heavy impact call: Netflix was downgraded to sell from hold at Wells Fargo. Price target went to $57 from $80. Analysts argued the content slate in the second half of this year looks weak and engagement trends are worrisome. I thought the stock could be making a comeback off its July low. Shares are off 3% this morning. 6. Guggenheim downgraded consulting giant Accenture to hold from buy. The stock is up 53% from its June 30 bottom, but analysts said they don’t see any real improvement in demand based on their channel checks. Also pointed to fewer job postings, which seems silly to me. Earnings on Oct. 1 will test the rally. 7. Tyson Foods was upgraded to buy from hold at JPMorgan, with analysts saying headwinds in its chicken business from rising feed costs are well understood now. But they also cut their price target to $63 from $65, implying over 20% upside. Any time you cut your price target, you should not be raising your rating. 8. Another impactful call: Etsy was upgraded to buy from hold at BTIG. Price target of $90 represents 24% upside. Analysts see better risk/reward now that shares have cooled off since late August. Been a tough few weeks for so many consumer stocks as gas prices have gone even higher. But I think Etsy has finally gotten its act together under new CEO Kruti Patel Goyal. 9. Texas Roadhouse is another example of a consumer stock that’s rolled over. The steakhouse chain is also suffering from beef prices starting to creep higher. At roughly $167 apiece, shares are well below where we sold it earlier this year. 10. Citi upgraded ticket marketplace StubHub to buy from hold. Analysts have seen “robust” app downloads during the third quarter, leading them to predict a beat on third-quarter operating profitability. Could be an interesting spec here. This one has been a horrendous performer since last September’s blown IPO, down over 70%. Shares are up over 7% premarket.
