JBL Launches Pulse 6 With AI Features and Built-in DAC
JBL has expanded its Pulse series of portable wireless Bluetooth speakers, famous for putting together a 360-degree LED light show. The new Pulse 6 retains the lantern-inspired design, but a number of upgrades have been added to the audio, hardware, and connectivity. The most unusual feature is a built-in DAC, making it ideal for audiophiles. JBL has also introduced AI-powered acoustic features such as “AI Sound Boost” to make it well suited for most users.
The Pulse 6 stands out by containing an internal Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC) in the chassis. This allows you to plug a USB-C cord directly into a Windows or Mac computer to stream lossless high-fidelity audio while simultaneously charging the speaker’s battery. It now uses Bluetooth 6.0 with support for advanced codecs like SBC, AAC, and LC3. You can also pair compatible JBL speakers together with Auracast for a bigger soundstage.
JBL says the speaker delivers “deeper bass driven by an upgraded acoustic design.” Even though the internal audio driver configuration has been kept the same in the newer model, the Pulse 6 offers cleaner and deeper bass. This improvement comes from a wider frequency response of 42Hz-20kHz and an AI Sound Boost feature that analyzes music in real time to offer loud and distortion-free sound, even at high volumes.

The 360-degree lighting has also been updated with new energetic party looks and soft ambient patterns. A physical handle is now built directly into the top structure that carries on the 360-degree dynamic light show. Additionally, it includes a Double-Tap Soft Glow Mode to function as a bedside light, and an app-configured Sunset Mode that gradually dims the lights and fades the music over a 60-minute timer.
JBL has also made the Pulse 6 IP68 waterproof and dustproof for better protection outdoors. As for battery life, it stays at 12 hours and can be recharged in 4.5 hours. The speaker also works with a companion mobile app that allows you to fine-tune the audio with EQ, as well as access the built-in light patterns and sounds.
JBL Pulse 6 is initially launching in China with a price tag of 2,499 yuan ($370), while it is also listed on the JBL Cambodia website.
