I’ve pulled together a few different directions for both the rug and pendant, keeping your large dining table and the wider open-plan space in mind.
For the rug, scale was the first thing I looked at. With a 289 x 110cm table, I’d ideally want something around 300 x 400cm so the chairs can still sit comfortably on the rug when they’re pulled out. I’ve included a mix of wool, jute and flatweave options, with pattern and texture doing some of the practical work too. In a busy family dining space, I’d much rather choose something with movement and tonal variation than a completely flat pale rug, as it’ll be far more forgiving day to day. Where a rug is slightly smaller than ideal, I’ve flagged it and would recommend taping out the dimensions first.
For the pendant, I wanted it to feel connected to the Neptune bronze and glass lighting you already have without making everything feel too coordinated. Because the table is so generous, the light needs enough presence to anchor the dining area, but I’ve kept the focus on softer shades and concealed bulbs so you still get that warm, diffused glow you mentioned.

Rugs
I really like this one for a busy dining space because the pattern is doing some of the practical work for you. It has enough movement to hide the odd mark or spill, which is exactly what I’d want under a family dining table, but the wool keeps it feeling soft and elevated instead of being too hard-wearing. The blue also gives you a nice link back to the teal sofa without making the whole open-plan space feel too matched.

The jute texture brings in that lovely natural, slightly rustic feel that works so well with Scandinavian and modern farmhouse interiors, and I like how it would soften the dark brown table. It’s also a good choice if you want something low-maintenance visually, because the weave naturally disguises everyday wear.

This is the boldest of the three, and the one I’d choose if you want the dining area to feel like a proper design moment. The graphic pattern gives the open-plan space a strong focal point, while the jute keeps it grounded and natural. Again, it’s great for high-traffic visually because the texture and pattern are very forgiving, but it’s more of a style-first choice when it comes to spills, so I’d recommend a good rug protector and quick clean-ups with younger children around.

I included this because the texture is lovely against a dark brown table, and the mix of wool, jute and cotton gives it that relaxed, modern farmhouse feel without looking too rustic. The wool brings softness and durability, while the jute gives it a little more structure, so it should cope well with a busy dining space. The largest size is 244 x 305cm, which is smaller than I’d ideally choose for your table, so I’d definitely tape those dimensions out on the floor first and pull the chairs back as you normally would before committing.

This would probably be my most practical long-term choice for your dining room. The 300 x 400cm size gives the chairs more room to stay on the rug when they’re pulled out, and the 90% wool, 10% cotton flatweave is exactly the kind of construction I like for a busy family space: durable, naturally dirt-resistant and low enough for chairs to move across easily. The subtle geometric pattern will also be much more forgiving than a completely plain rug.

This is the softer, more Scandinavian direction. The 65cm linen shade breaks up all the straighter lines of the table and kitchen cabinetry, which I think is really useful in an open-plan space like yours. The linen naturally diffuses the light, so you get a warmer, more atmospheric glow rather than an exposed bulb, and the sculptural oval shape adds softness without introducing another heavy material

This is the stronger option if you want the dining light to feel connected to the bronze fittings already in the kitchen, without repeating the same conical shape. The 80cm width gives it enough presence over a 10-seater table, while the pleated linen shade softens the light and conceals the bulbs beautifully. I also like the aged brass detailing here because it will speak to the Neptune pendants and wall lights, but still feel like its own moment over the dining table.
