Check Your Social Security Payment Date for August
Millions of Social Security beneficiaries are scheduled to receive their August payments this week, but the exact date depends on when they were born.
Recipients born between the first and 10th of any month are scheduled to receive their benefits Wednesday, Aug. 12, according to the Social Security Administration’s payment calendar.
The payment follows the agency’s normal monthly schedule, which distributes benefits on different Wednesdays based on recipients’ birth dates. The schedule covers retirees, disabled workers and other beneficiaries.
Although Social Security faces long-term financial challenges, including a projected retirement trust fund shortfall as soon as 2032, beneficiaries can still expect payments to follow the normal schedule this month.
Who Gets a Social Security Payment This Week?
Beneficiaries born between the first and 10th day of the month are scheduled to receive their monthly Social Security benefit Wednesday, Aug. 12.
When Are Social Security Payments Sent?
Social Security benefits are generally paid on Wednesdays. People born between the 1st and 10th of the month typically receive payments on the second Wednesday. Those born between the 11th and 20th are generally paid on the third Wednesday, while those born after the 20th are generally paid on the fourth Wednesday.
People who received Social Security before May 1997 generally receive their payment on the third day of the month, unless that day falls on a weekend or holiday.
People who receive both Social Security and Supplemental Security Income can generally expect their Social Security payment on the third day of the month and their SSI payment on the first day of the month.
SSI Payment Schedule for the Rest of 2026
SSI payments are typically issued on the first business day of the month. Because Aug. 1 fell on a Saturday, the August SSI payment was sent Friday, July 31.
According to the SSA calendar, the remaining 2026 SSI payment dates are:
- Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2026 — September payment
- Thursday, Oct. 1, 2026 — October payment
- Friday, Oct. 30, 2026 — November payment
- Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2026 — December payment
- Thursday, Dec. 31, 2026 — January 2027 payment
