I have been tracking the growth of the tiny house industry for better part of a decade. Many things have changed: It has evolved from basic necessity and affordability to dwellings that people no longer deem cramped or suffocating. European builders are still somewhat adhering to the founding principles of the industry, while American, Australian, and Canadian tiny home builders are toeing the line between regular homes and micro-dwellings, while sticking to the latter side. Today, I will be taking you on a tour of one such tiny house, called the Hummingbird.
The Hummingbird park model (PM) tiny house is designed and built by British Columbia-based Summit Tiny Homes. Canadian builders have a special place in our hearts. Their designs are built to withstand whatever the Great White North can throw at them and keep their inhabitants as cozy and snug as a regular dwelling even in the dead of winter. The Hummingbird holds its own against the harsh weather while offering the amenities of a regular home.
To me, the Hummingbird feels like a cornucopia of color and warmth. But the highlight of this single-level tiny house has to be the freestanding copper tub in the walkthrough bathroom. If I were to live in a tiny house, I’d definitely pick the Hummingbird PM tiny house.
As the builder defines it, the tiny house on wheels is “a bespoke blend of color, craftsmanship, and comfort.” The park model measures 40 feet long and 10 feet wide, allowing plenty of living space. Its single-floor, one-bedroom layout
The shingled exterior has a rustic aesthetic with plenty of black-trimmed windows opening up the interior to vast views. I love how it seems like a modern woodland cabin from the outside, but inside it dons a traditional home attire that feels like a warm cocoon.
There are two entrances: a single glass door opening into the living area and a sliding glass door in the bedroom. The living area entrance serves as the main entry point, where you find warm timber beams, bold cabinetry, and curated textures. The vibrant yet refined interior, anchored by expansive windows, is ideal for a couple or individual looking to embrace the downsized lifestyle.

The living area has room for a sofa bed, a coffee table, and side tables. The flexible space allows you to place the sofa however you want and arrange the space accordingly. It has two picture windows to bring in plenty of natural light and outdoor views. I would place the sofa facing the windows with an entertainment center in the corner without blocking any of the beautiful light pouring in.
The adjoining kitchen is split into two sections. Appliances sit snugly along the linear countertop, featuring a four-burner cooktop, a fridge, an oven, and a range hood. Each appliance has a touch of retro aesthetic to blend in with the traditional aura of the home.
Opposite is the L-shaped countertop, housing a 24-inch farmhouse sink and space for washer/dryer hookup. The countertop also serves as a dining area for two. The kitchen features plenty of cabinets and open shelving, clad in a bright orange hue to add more warmth to the space.
Past the kitchen is the bathroom, and it has to be my favorite space in the Hummingbird. It has a walkthrough split layout with a 60-inch freestanding copper bathtub sitting next to a window on one side. The other side has a toilet and a vanity sink.

At the end of the house sits the sole bedroom. It has a separate entrance and a window to keep the space well-lit. The free-up storage queen-size bed, flanked by nightstands, allows room for seasonal items. I love the large closet that keeps daily clothing and accessories sorted.
The Hummingbird PM tiny house is thoughtfully designed for both function and personality and would make the perfect home for an individual or a couple. Priced at CAD$198,000 (roughly US$142,700), this Canadian tiny house is an epitome of how a small space can feel rich, artistic, and deeply inviting.
