24 Things We’d Never Host Backyard Brunch Without

It might just be the best meal, and it’s certainly our favorite kind of garden party. Host a backyard brunch, and nobody’s straining themselves to wake up too early. The menu gets to play both sides, with sweet and savory sharing the table, while sundresses and linen button-downs threaten to upstage the tablescape.

But they won’t. A tiered cake stand might be piled high with boulangerie pastries, flanked not by ordinary vases but tulipières overflowing with the season’s best. Fresh fruit looks like little jewels scattered across porcelain platters. Off to one side, a beverage station keeps pitchers of fruit-infused water, fresh juices, and bottles of bubbly chilling in the chicest ice bucket they’ve ever seen, which is on mimosa duty starting now. And because this could very well be a three-hour-long affair, punchy pastel seat cushions become just as important as the table linens.
