Cerberus switches London exec to India

Cerberus Capital Management is relocating managing director Rahul Sangwan from London to Mumbai to lead its operations in India, as the alternative investment firm expands its focus on the country’s growing private credit market, according to a report by Bloomberg.

Sangwan will oversee Cerberus’ Indian business from Mumbai, the firm said in a statement. Allen Ukritnukun, Cerberus’ head of international credit and distressed debt, said India had become an increasingly important market for the firm, supported by the development of a local team and investment platform.

The move follows the departure of Indranil Ghosh, formerly Cerberus’ managing director and head of pan-Asia special situations. The report cites unnamed people familiar with the matter as saying that Ghosh is expected to join Apollo Global Management in October after completing his gardening leave.

He is set to lead Apollo’s corporate credit and hybrid business in India, the people said.
