Rockford, Ill-based Savant Wealth Management has expanded its footprint in New York with the acquisition of Socha Financial Group, a registered investment advisor in Corning with about $542 million in assets under management.
Savant didn’t disclose financial terms of the deal, which closed yesterday.
The acquisition of Socha is Savant’s third office in the Empire State. The independent, fee-only RIA, which oversees about $56.5 billion in assets under management and $1.5 billion in assets under advisement, now has 71 offices across 28 states, Savant said in a news release.
Founded in 1983 by Nancy Socha, Socha Financial serves employees and retirees in the Corning area, providing financial planning, investment management, tax planning and preparation and estate planning, according to the release.
Michelle Socha Vang, managing partner and COO of Socha, and Jolie McCarthy, managing partner, joined Savant as member-owners and employees, Savant said. The rest of the team are now Savant employees, while CEO and Chief Investment Officer Michael Socha becomes a member-owner of Savant but not an employee.
“Socha’s commitment to helping clients navigate every aspect of their financial lives aligns closely with Savant’s planning-driven approach,” Savant founder and CEO Brent Brodeski said in a statement. “We are especially impressed by the culture they have created and the longstanding client relationships they have supported over the years.”
Socha Financial officials touted the expanded capabilities and resources offered by their much bigger partner as well as their joint appreciation of the importance of providing comprehensive financial planning and client-first approach.
“When evaluating potential partners, we looked for a firm that shared our philosophy and dedication to comprehensive financial planning,” McCarthy said. “Savant stood out because of its commitment to serving clients, its collaborative culture, and the breadth of services available to support families through every stage of life.”
Transitions served as the M&A consultant and valuation advisor to Socha Financial, according to the release.
With nine transactions during the first half of the year, Savant is the leading RIA acquirer so far in 2026, according to a report by Fidelity.
Most recently, the RIA acquirer opened its first office in Maine by snapping up Richard Brothers Financial Advisors, a South Portland-based firm with more than $240 million in assets under management.
