Q Acoustics Launches 3040c Compact Floorstanding Speakers

Upgrading bookshelf speakers in your home audio setup can really be overwhelming due to the rising price of floorstanders. British audio brand Q Acoustics aims to change that with its new 3040c floorstanding loudspeakers, claiming to bridge the gap between pricing and high-end audio quality. Part of the 3000c series, the loudspeaker combines high-quality design, room-filling sound, and several technological advances in a space-saving form that will seamlessly blend into modern home settings.

At the core of the 3040c is Q Acoustics’ C3 (Continuous Curved Cone) core driver platform, which combines bass response of a traditional straight conic cone with the midrange clarity and high-frequency control of a flared cone, according to Q Acoustics. It is equipped with dual 4.75-inch Cdrivers to offer a balanced output with controlled bass, expressive midrange, and smoother integration with the high-frequency driver.

On the other hand, the 0.9-inch tweeter sports a “floating” design inspired by Q’s flagship Concept series. It is hermetically sealed and mechanically isolated from the baffle to reduce internal pressure and vibrations from coloring the high frequencies. This design is combined with a vented inner chamber to achieve ultra-low distortion to allow for a lower crossover point and seamless transition between drivers.

The speaker utilizes P2P (Point to Point) bracing on the internal areas of the cabinet prone to low-end frequency vibrations to deliver a better-controlled soundstage. Furthermore, it also uses HPE tubes that reduce the unwanted echoes and pressure buildup inside the cabinet during playback. The makers say it achieves a frequency response of 43 Hz-30 kHz (-6 dB).

Like its bigger sibling, 3050c, the 3040c has a stylish, solid aluminum stabilizer design, with top-adjustable spikes for easy levelling. Additionally, the speaker’s cable connections are recessed into the back of the cabinet, allowing it to sit closer to a wall without bending or crushing the speaker cables. It is a valuable feature for those seeking big sound in tighter spaces.

In terms of its industrial design, the 3040c loudspeaker features clean lines and a curved profile with understated detailing to naturally integrate into modern interiors. There are no visible joints or bolts to ensure a minimalist aesthetic, elegantly complemented by a one-piece satin nickel and satin chrome (white mode) driver trim.

The Q Acoustics 3040c loudspeaker will be available in four finishes: Satin Black, Satin White, Pin Oak and Claro Walnut, with a reasonable price of $1,099.
