All Salad and Go Locations Are Closing Today, Aug. 5, Including in Nevada

The last day of service for all Salad and Go locations in Las Vegas and nationwide is Wednesday, Aug. 5.

These closures come after the Arizona-born fast food salad chain announced in a news release that it had filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. The chain had closed all 32 locations in Texas and Oklahoma to refocus on Arizona, its home state, and Nevada earlier this year on Jan. 7. Now, the remaining Nevada and Arizona locations are closing as well.

“This is a painful day for everyone who built, worked for, and loved Salad and Go,” said CEO Mike Tattersfield in a news release. “Our mission was brought to life every day by an extraordinary team and embraced by guests who made us part of their routines. We are proud of what we built together and grateful to every team member, guest and partner who believed in it.”

The news release cited concerns around Cyclospora as a believed cause of decreased business in July, despite the chain not being implicated in the outbreak.

Founder Says the Signs Were There for Inevitable Bankruptcy

Salad and Go was founded in Gilbert in 2013 by Tony and Roushan Christofellis. The couple sold the business in 2021 and moved on to open Angie’s Lobster and Angie’s Prime Grill.

In an exclusive interview with The Arizona Republic, Tony Christofellis shared that he was “not at all” surprised by the news of the company’s bankruptcy.

“We were killing it in Arizona,” Christofellis said. “Our investors at that time (in 2021) wanted to expand nationally and do it as fast as possible. We specifically said we cannot do that; the model needs to be done in a very thoughtful, efficient way. To open over 50 stores a year, we thought was insane, and we thought was the wrong move.”

Christofellis said he and his wife “fought for a while” to keep the brand in line with their original vision, but ultimately decided instead to sell the brand and focus on their new venture.

“I sent an email out to the investors at that time telling them what I thought was going to happen,” Christofellis said. “I actually gave them advice many times along the way, but they didn’t heed it, and here we are today.”

Christofellis said he feels “indifferent” to the Salad and Go business. He did, however, say he was hurting for all the team members who will now be out of a job.

How Many Salad and Go Locations Were in Nevada?

Salad and Go operated 70 locations across Arizona and Nevada. All of the seven Salad and Go locations in Nevada were in Las Vegas.
