This LA Exhibition Blends Kinetic Artwork With Custom Furniture

An exciting art exhibition has arrived in Los Angeles. International artist Felipe Pantone and local designer Etai Drori have teamed up for their very first collaborative show, titled Parallel Practices: Tailored Structures & Kinetic Surfaces. Running from July 17 through August 8, 2026, the exhibition takes place at the albertz benda gallery, located in a mid-century modern home near Chateau Marmont on Marmont Lane.

Instead of displaying their works separately, Pantone and Etai transformed the gallery into a single, connected living space where moving art, fashion, and functional design work together. To create the furniture pieces, Etai gathered vintage mid-century furniture from across Los Angeles. He digitally mapped, took apart, and carefully rebuilt each item.

Meanwhile, Pantone designed custom fabrics in vibrant color gradients, geometric patterns, and optical visual effects. These special textiles were produced in Italy by the textile house Limonta. Etai then used Pantone’s fabrics to re-upholster the furniture, giving classic shapes a modern visual energy while keeping their original charm intact.

Highlighting this process is a vintage mid-century sofa wrapped in Limonta-woven fabric featuring Pantone’s colorful pixelated gradient pattern, seamlessly matching two geometric wall panels hanging directly behind it. Another key piece is a low-profile accent chair completely reconstructed from high-contrast, black-and-white optical wave textiles that warp and shift as visitors walk past.

Alongside the furniture, the exhibition features Pantone’s signature kinetic wall artworks. Built with repetition, bold colors, and optical tricks, these pieces create a feeling of movement that reflects the fast-paced energy of Los Angeles. The colorful patterns on the walls mirror the fabrics on the furniture, creating a complete environment rather than a basic gallery setup.

By blending Pantone’s optical art with Etai’s skill in tailoring and furniture, the exhibition explores how art can be lived with and used in daily life. The show opened with a special event on Friday, July 17, giving visitors a fresh way to experience art and design in Los Angeles.
